This type was issued by the Philippines for circulation 1983-90, to be superseded in 1991 by a smaller stainless steel coin (KM 258). Today, with US$1 = 48 PHP (approximately), no coins smaller than a peso circulate. This date is common. The coconut palm featured on the reverse represents a major product of the Philippines.
