This specimen was lot 1732 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Basel. Taler, 1640. NGC AU-55. Beautifully toned with iridescent highlights." Basel struck numerous varieties of thalers (Dav-4606 thru -4610) in 1640, varying in the spelling of the city name.
