Sweden 1790-OL ducat Fr-74
This specimen was lot 3076 in Sincona sale 77 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 6,750 CHF (about US$8,193 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWEDEN. Gustav III. 1771-1792. Dukat 1790, Stockholm. Mit der Signatur OL (Olof Lidijn, Münzmeister in Stockholm, 1773-1819). Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS63. (kingdom of Sweden, Gustavus III, 1771-92, ducat of 1790, Stockholm mint, with mintmater's initials "OL". Very rare, especially in this condition, uncirculated.)"
This type was struck in small quantities 1771-92 but enough have survived that it appears from time to time.
Recorded mintage: 3,643, a better date.
