Netherlands East Indies 1908 1/2 cent

from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72620

This specimen was lot 72620 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $132. The catalog description^[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Kingdom of the Netherlands. 1/2 Cent, 1908. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: broadaxe. Wilhelmina. NGC MS-64 Brown. Deep brown and highly enchanting, this near-Gem specimen features some hints of cobalt and burgundy to add even more allure." This type was struck with various privy marks 1855-60, 1902, 1908-09. A modified reverse was used 1914, 1916, 1921, 1932-33
