This specimen was lot 46541 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONG KONG (SAR). Cent, 1865. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-61 Brown." This type was struck for Hong Kong 1863-66 and 1875-77 and worn specimens are common. A mint was operated briefly at the colony in 1866-68 and then closed for high costs. The equipment was sold to Japan. Later issues were struck at Heaton or London. In Hong Kong, 100 cents = one dollar; sterling coinage was never used there.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 7.4 g, bronze, 27.8 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-4.1.
