"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Philips II (1555-1598), AR Philipsdaalder, 1576, Brugge. Vz/ Geharnast bb. l. Onderaan lelie tussen het jaartal. Kz/ Gekroond wapenschild op een Bourgondisch kruis tussen twee vuurijzers. Zeldzaam. Mooi portret op brede muntplaat. The écu Philippe of 1571-85 was a revival of the écu Philippe of 1555-66. This variety, with the king's bust facing left, was struck 1576-77. Similar daalders were struck at Antwerp, Maastricht (both Dav-8634), Brussels (Dav-8635, -8636), Namur (Dav-8657), Tournai (Dav-8655) and Luxembourg (Dav-8660).
