Sincona sale 98, lot 4082

This specimen was lot 4082 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$2,031 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Vierer 1547, Bern. Sehr selten. Schön-sehr schön. (Switzerland, city and canton of Bern, Bern mint. Very rare, Fine-Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1547-50, 1554, 1556, 1559 and undated. A vierer was half a kreuzer. One thaler was sixty kreuzer, later to rise to 72 kreuzer by the end of the century.
