Sincona sale 98, lot 4083

This specimen was lot 4083 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$116 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Halbbatzen 1550, Bern. Mit fehlerhafter Rückseitenumschrift . FVNA : (anstelle FVNDATOR). Sehr schön. (Switzerland, city and canton of Bern, half batzen of 1550, Bern mint. Incorrect inscription on reverse, "FVNA" instead of "FVNDA". Very Fine.)"

Half a batzen was two kreuzer. This type was struck 1530, 1537-38 and 1546-51.
