Germany 2002-D 200 euro

Sincona sale 63, part of lot 2513

This specimen was part of lot 2513 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), which sold for 10,770 CHF (about US$13,495 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"EDELMETALL-AUKTION | DEUTSCHLAND | Bundesrepublik Deutschland, 200 Euro 2002. Währungsunion. Kompletter Satz der Prägestätten A, D, F, G, J. Lot von 5 Exemplaren. Feingewicht total: 155.5 Gramm. FDC. In Originaletuis mit Zertifikaten. (Germany, Federal Republic, 200 euro of 2002, on the introduction of the euro. Complete set of five pieces with mintmarks A, D, F, G, J. Uncirculated, In original boxes with certificates.)"

This one ounce NCLT celebrated the intorduction of the euro and was produced at each of Germany's five mints. It was accompanied by a half ounce coin (KM 220) theoretically worth 100 euro.

Recorded mintage: 20,000 each at Berlin (A), Munich (D), Stuttgart (F), Karlsruhe (G) and Hamburg (J).

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 32.5 mm diameter.
