France 1928 10 centimes

This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1917-38 during the waning years of the French Third Republic. It superseded a similar coin struck in pure nickel 1914-16. This design was also used for similar five and twenty-five centime pieces; the central hole kept it from being confused with larger denominations with similar diameters. This coin is very common in circulated condition but hard to find choice. In 1922-24, the Paris mint was assisted by issues from Poissy, distinguished by the lightning bolt privy mark instead of the usual cornucopia (shown here).
