Sincona sale 95, lot 4158

This specimen was lot 4158 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$347 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Kreuzer 1772, Bern. FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, kreuzer of 1772, Bern mint. Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck in billon 1755, 1765, 1772-81, 1785, 1789, 1792-93, 1796-97. The 1793 is the most common date. In Germany, the convention thaler was 120 kreuzer; in Switzerland, the thaler was 160 kreuzer.
