Heritage sale 3064, lot 33845
Sweden H3064-33845r.jpg

This specimen was lot 33845 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "Adolf Frederick 2 Ore 1759 MS62 Brown NGC. A superbly struck example of remarkable quality for the type, as many of the 18th-century copper emissions from Sweden often come down to us in low quality." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 48 öre = one riksdaler. This type was struck 1751, 1755-68 and is fairly common up thru Extremely Fine. The KM 518 of 1777 is the last issue of the denomination.

Recorded mintage: 352,000.

Specification: 28.3 g, copper.

Catalog reference: KM 461.
