This type was struck for circulation in New Zealand 1999-2006, with a more mature bust of the queen. It uses the module of the old sixpence. Coinage, formerly obtained exclusively from the London mint, is divided among that mint and the Canberra mint and Ottawa mint. Some dates, such as 2005-06, were struck only for collector sets. It was demonetized in 2006.
Recorded mintage: 20,000,000 plus 1,364 proofs.
Specification: 2.83 g, copper-nickel, 19.43 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and Stuart Devlin.
Catalog reference: KM 116.
