Sincona sale 88, lot 121

This specimen was lot 121 in Sincona sale 88 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$859 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Zand Dynasty, Karim Khan, 1166-1193 AH (1753-1779). 1/4 Mohur Ashrafi 1187 AH (1773), Kashan Mint. NGC MS62. Purchased from Baldwin's, London, in 2017."

Karim Khan was the founder and the only effective ruler of the Zands. This denomination was struck at Kashan (known for AH 1178-1192) plus eight other mints, including Mazandaran, Rasht, Qazvin and Yazd.

Specification: 2.75 g, gold, this specimen 2.71 g.
