The twenty centavos denomination was originally occupied by the silver quinto, struck 1888-1917. It was superseded by a copper-nickel coin in 1918, which was replaced by a brass type in 1942 when World War Two drove up the price of nickel. This sub-type, issued 1951-65, features a thinner planchet and a numeric date. All dates are available tho the 1954 is the scarcest date. The 1960 is noted with and without the engraver's initial "AFP." It is accompanied by brass five and ten centavos.
