Sincona sale 88, lot 211

This specimen was lot 211 in Sincona sale 88 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 20,000 CHF (about US$26,428 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Naser al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 (1848-1896). Toman 1274 AH (1858), Isfahan Mint. Shah on the Peacock Throne. Von grösster Seltenheit. Nur 2 Exemplare bekannt; Of the highest rarity. Only 2 examples known. NGC MS63. Purchased from Stack's Bowers, New York, in 1985."

The SCWC shows several tomans with the portrait of the shah (including KM 861.4 from Isfahan) but none in the seated pose shown here.
