Large size $5

This note was lot 2669 in Goldberg sale 62 (Beverly Hills, February 2010), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "1902, $5 National Bank Note. The Commercial NB, Santa Ana, CA. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25. A late charter bank which issued large notes for a little over one year. With only $290 outstanding in 1935, one would expect this to be in the ultra-rare to unobtainable category, but to date eight large notes have been reported. While some minor defects are noted by PCGS Currency, including a small edge split, a repaired edge tear and some minor rust stains, this piece is certainly an acceptable example."

Small size $5, type I

PCGS Very Fine 20. This was the smaller of Santa Ana's two small size issuing banks, and actually had the smallest issue overall, ranked by face value, of any of Santa Ana's five banks."
