This specimen was lot 30227 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Utrecht. Provincial silver 2 Ducat 1774 MS62 NGC. An appealing example exhibiting russet-gray surfaces with light adjustments and handling. Scarce as a type and highly desirable in Mint State." The silver ducat (Dav-1845) was struck throughout the eighteenth century and is common, yet the piedforts of double weight are rare. The auction catalog description gives KM 42.2 as the catalog number but that is for the gold double ducat which, tho expensive, is well attested.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 56.5 g, 0.873 fine silver.
