This specimen was part of lot 10568 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $881. The catalog description[1] noted, "MOMBASA. 2 Annas, 1/4 Rupee & 1/2 Rupee, 1890-H. KM-2, 3 & 4. NGC MS-65, MS-63 & MS-65." Mombasa is a port in what is now Kenya and came under British control in 1887.
Recorded mintage: 10,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 5.83 g, 0.917 fine silver, .171 troy oz ASW.
