Sincona sale 9, lot 4784

This specimen was lot 4784 in Sincona sale 9 (Zurich, October 2012), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$411 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NIEDERLANDE Holland, Provinz Dukat 1773. Fast vorzüglich. (Netherlands, province of Holland, ducat of 1773, choice extremely fine.)"

This type was struck without change 1702-91 and is priced in the SCWC as a common date. Holland was the largest and wealthiest part of the United Provinces, now the kingdom of the Netherlands.
