This specimen was part of lot 40452 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Trio of 5 Pesos, 1913-19. PCGS MS-62 & MS-63 Gold Shields. 3 pieces in lot. Each coin has bright and lustrous yellow-gold luster. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck 1913-19 and is common. This date comes in medal and coin rotation and an 1918/3 overdate is recorded.
Recorded mintage: 423,000.
Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .234 troy oz AGW (same standard as a British sovereign).
