This specimen was lot 34831 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description^[1] noted, "George III gold Guinea 1795 MS63 PCGS. Ex-Terner Collection. A true jewel with captivating luster. An outstanding opportunity." This type, the commonest of several used during George's long reign, is noted for 1787-99. The reform of 1817 terminated all guinea-denominated issues in favor of the sovereign. At that time the guinea, which heretofore had varied in value, was fixed at 21 shillings.
