Steve Album sale 30, lot 1066
Finland SA30-1066r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1066 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND: Nicholas II, as Grand Duke, 1894-1917, AR 50 pennia, 1907, NGC graded MS63." This type is listed for 1907-17 and was struck for Finland by the czarist administration. Russian defeats in World War One enabled the Finns, who had long chafed under Russian rule, to declare independence. This date is common in all grades, suggesting that it was hoarded.

Recorded mintage: 260,000.

Specification: 2.549 g, .750 fine silver, .061 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 2.2.
