The specimen shown is from a type struck for Guatemala since 1996. It superseded earlier silver issues of 1950-64 and previous copper-nickel types issued 1965-95. Numerous subtypes exist, probably created when the government changed minting contractors.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: copper-nickel, 27 mm diameter, edged lettered REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA CA.
