This specimen was lot 343 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, October 2010), where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"AUSTRIA. Leopold as Count of Tirol, 1626-1632. 2 Taler (1626). Hall. Crowned conjoined busts in elaborate ruffs of Leopold and Claudia de Medici. Rv. Eagle of Tirol in dotted circle, titles DVX. BVRGVNDIAE. COMES. TIROLIS: struck on a pleasingly thick planchet by roller die, boasting delightful late Renaissance portraits. Scattered minor tics, old cabinet toning. Choice Extremely Fine." </blockquote>  While most Austrian multiple thalers are rare, this one, issued for the wedding of the duke, is only scarce. The SCWC also shows a klippe version of this design, struck on a square blank (Dav-3331A, KM 640).
