Sincona sale 20, lot 3023

This specimen was lot 3023 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 2,000 (about US$2,506 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "2500 Won 2005. FDC aus Polierter Platte. (proof)." The rare piece is not granted a photo in the SCWC. The SCWC claims this and other North Korean commemoratives were minted in Pyongyang but Beijing seems more likely.

Recorded mintage: est. 200.

Specification: 33.33 g, 0.900 fine gold, .964 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 1087.
