Sincona sale 23, lot 3022
Jean Elsen sale 134, lot 1523

The first specimen was lot 3022 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$283 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR/ÖSTERREICH, Karl VI. 1711-1740 Taler 1721. Hall. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI (1711-40), thaler of 1721, Hall mint, extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1523 in Jean Elsen sale 134 (Brussels, September 2017), where it sold for €370 (about US$522 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SAINT EMPIRE, Charles VI (1711-1740), AR Taler, 1721, Hall. D/ B. l., dr. et cuir. à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Très Beau à Superbe. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, silver thaler of 1721, Hall mint. Obverse: laureate, draped and armored bust to right; reverse: imperial eagle displayed. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

The type was struck 1719-34, along with similar types from Vienna, Breslau and Graz.

Recorded mintage: 411,000.

Specification: 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver, .810 troy oz ASW, the first specimen 28.75 g, the second specimen 28,38 g.
