This specimen was lot 2617 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Jahandar, 1712-1713, AR rupee, Lahore, AH1124 year one (ahad), magnificent strike, XF-AU." Aurangzeb succeeded Shah Jahan and, after eliminating his brothers, expanded the empire to its maximum extent. However, his intolerance of Hinduism sowed the seed for later revolts. His successors were not able to cope with external attack, Hindu rebellion and civil war and the empire broke up in the eighteenth century. Wikipedia comments,
"Jahandar Shah, (Mu'izz-ud-Din Beg Muhammad Khan; 1661-1713), was briefly the ninth Mughal emperor from 1712 to 1713. He was the son of Emperor Bahadur Shah I, and the grandson of Emperor Aurangzeb. Jahandar Shah was the first puppet ruler of the Mughal dynasty, having been placed on the throne by powerful noble Zulfiqar Khan. His reign was short and turbulent, lasting less than a year. He was deposed by the Sayyid brothers and succeeded by his nephew Farrukhsiyar."
The Lahore mint struck this type year one only.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce mint.
