from the Stack's Bowers 2024 ANA sale, lot 46919
SB824-46919r.jpg

This specimen was lot 46919 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAMAICA. 1/4 Penny (Farthing), 1904. London Mint. Edward VII. PCGS MS-65. Tied with two others for top pop at PCGS." The official coinage of Jamaica begins with issues of copper-nickel farthings, half pennies and pennies during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). In 1937, with the accession of George VI, the composition was changed to nickel brass and issued in this manner until the end of sterling coinage in 1967. This particular type was struck 1904-10 and is common in worn condition.

Recorded mintage: 192,000 plus proofs.

Specification: c2.8 g, opper nickel, 20.2 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-21.
