This specimen was lot 954 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "BENGAL PRESIDENCY: AR 1/16 rupee, Murshidabad, year 7, in the name of Shah Alam II, struck either at Murshidabad or Calcutta (not distinguishable), EF, RR, ex Puddester Collection." According to the SCWC, this type was struck years 6, 8, 9 and 10. While the Mughal Empire lasted, the British in Bengal were careful to strike coinage in the emperor's name. Only the coppers showed the arms of the East India Company.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.73 g, silver, this specimen 0.72 g.

Catalog reference: Stv-2.107, KM 80.1 (unlisted date).
