This type was struck 1952 and 1955 for the Portuguese colony of Angola on the west coast of Africa south of the Congo. The two dates are priced the same in the SCWC. After a protracted struggle, Angola obtained its independence in 1975 and then dissolved into civil war as various factions contended for control.

Recorded mintage: 2,023,000.

Specification: 5 g, .720 fine silver, 24 mm diameter.
