from Steve Album sale 45, lot 937

This specimen was lot 937 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAINTIAPUR: Vijaya Narayan, 1785-1790, AR rupee, SE1707, ruler also known as Bijay Narayan, VF to EF, R, ex David Cashin Collection." The state of Jaintiapur in Assam was a dependency of Cooch Behar in the sixteenth century but regained its independence in the seventeenth century. The SCWC lists this as a one year type.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 8.84 g.
