Great Britain 1946 shilling KM-854

After Scotland was merged with England by the Act of Union of 1707, Scottish symbols and badges disappeared from British coinage. Deference to local sentiment led the mint to struck separate designs for Scotland and England on the reverse of the shilling. This issue of 1937 was the first year this change was implemented and it was maintained until the shilling was retired in 1970. This was the last year silver was used for the shilling.

Recorded mintage: 24,565,000.

Specification: 5.66 g, 0.500 fine silver, 23.55 mm diameter.
