from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70429
Czech SB518-70429r.jpg

This specimen was lot 70429 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "CZECHOSLOVAKIA. Dukat, 1926. NGC MS-64. Sharply struck with good luster." This type was struck 1923-39 and 1951 along with 2 dukaty, 5 and 10 dukatu. This type is rarely seen circulated, suggesting the hoarding of what few examples escaped government vaults. The obverse portrait is of "good" king Wenceslas, he of the well-known Christmas carol.

Recorded mintage: 58,669.

Specification: 3.49 g, .986 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM 8, Fr-2.
