This specimen was lot 555 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Shah Jahan I, 1628-1658, AV mohur, Lahore, AH1052 year 16, VF." Shah Jahan is most remembered today for having built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his wife. Twenty-five mints struck mohurs for him and Lahore is listed in this style for years 9-12, 16-17, 21-22 and 25-26. This is the most common mohur of Shah Jahan's reign.
