This issue was produced at the Manila mint, which struck all Philippines coinage from 1925 until World War Two. In 1937, with the inauguration of the Commonwealth, the reverse was redesigned. This second type (KM 179) was struck at Manila 1937-41 and at San Francisco in 1944. Unlike the previous type (KM 163), all the dates are common. All were demonetized by the Philippine government in the late 1960's when the currency was reformed.
Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.
Specification: 25 mm diameter, 5.18 g, bronze (.950 copper & .050 tin & zinc), plain edge.
Catalog reference: KM 179.
