This specimen was lot 33208 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Gold 50 Pence Piefort, 2022. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating 50 years of pride, this monumental offering takes a defiant stand for equality and visibility, and stands as the first of its kind to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community among the British series of coinage. Includes Certificate of Authenticity as #34." This denomination was used for numerous commemoratives in 2022. This design was struck in multiple formats; the gold piefort shown here is the scarcest.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000 for circulation plus 58,860 copper-nickel proofs plus 4,955 silver proofs plus 260 gold proofs plus 60 gold pieforts.

Specification: 8 g, copper-nickel, 27.3 mm diameter. Also struck in sterling silver (KM 2158b), 15.5 g, 0.917 fine gold (KM 2158c) or 31 g, 0.917 fine gold (KM 2158d).
