This specimen was lot 1613 in Sincona sale 76 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 5,250 CHF (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''SWEDEN. (kingdom of [[Sweden]], Frederick I, 1720-51, ducat of 1747, Stockholm mint, with mintmaster's initials HM. Rare, About uncirculated, Cabinet piece.)"</blockquote> In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler. This type was struck in several varieties 1734-50 and is the first reasonably common Swedish ducat, despite the tiny mintage. Another ducat with round arms on the reverse (KM 441) also exists for 1747 but is quite rare.

Sincona sale 76, lot 1613

This specimen was lot 1613 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 5,250 CHF (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWEDEN. Friedrich I. 1720-1751. Dukat 1747, Stockholm. Mit der Signatur HM (Hans Malmberg, Münzmeister in Stockholm, 1738-1762). Selten. Fast FDC. NGC MS62. Prachtexemplar. (kingdom of Sweden, Frederick I, 1720-51, ducat of 1747, Stockholm mint, with mintmaster's initials HM. Rare, About uncirculated, Cabinet piece.)"

In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler. This type was struck in several varieties 1734-50 and is the first reasonably common Swedish ducat, despite the tiny mintage. Another ducat with round arms on the reverse (KM 441) also exists for 1747 but is quite rare.

Recorded mintage: 4,809 plus 544 of KM 441.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.976 fine gold, this specimen 3.46 g.

Catalog reference: KM 421, Delzanno 46, AAH 37, Fr-64.
