This specimen was lot 3219 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,852 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEDEN, KÖNIGREICH, Gustav IV. Adolf, 1792-1809. Dukat 1793, Stockholm. GOLD. R Kl. Kratzer, fast vorzüglich. (kingdom of Sweden, Gustaf IV Adolf, 1792-1809, ducat of 1793, Stockholm mint. Scarce, light scuffs, about extremely fine.)"
This rare type is listed in the SCWC for 1793-95. Friedberg merges it with the subsequent issue of 1796-98 (KM 545) but the king's hairstyle is distinctly different. In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = 1 mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler.
Recorded mintage: 1,528.
Specification: 3.5 g, .976 fine gold, this specimen 3.45 g.
Catalog reference: KM 541, Ahlström 1; Fr-76; SMH 1.1.
