Sincona sale 47, lot 3040

This specimen was lot 3040 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$480 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, Zug, Stadt und Kanton, Groschen 1605, Zug. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön. (canton of Zug, groschen of 1605, Zug mint. Very rare date, Very fine.)"

A groschen was three kreuzer, hence the "3" marked on the reverse. This type is listed for 1597-1608 with the 1605 noted as a rare date. Some of the dates, including 1600, 1602 and 1606, are known in klippe format (KM 19).
