This specimen was lot 25226 in Heritage sale 61382 (Dallas, March 2024), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brazil: Republic 50 Reis 1931 MS66 NGC. The second rarest date of the series, only behind the "Extremely Rare" 1935 emission that saw only a mintage of 100 pieces, especially desirable at this lofty Gem designation." Shown is a copper-nickel fifty réis of the United States of Brazil. This is the regular issue, struck 1918-22, 1925-26, 1931 and 1935. Unlike the larger hundred and four hundred réis, this denomination was not used for the series of commemoratives issued during the thirties.

Recorded mintage: 20,000.

Specification: 3.08 g, copper nickel, 17.3 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 517.
