This specimen was lot 23260 in Heritage sale 61343 (Dallas, TX, November 2023), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "Chile. Republic gold 2 Pesos 1859/8-So MS62 NGC, Santiago mint. A bright Mint State coin, the finest of this overdate recorded by NGC." This type was struck 1856-62 and 1865. While it has a modest catalog value, it is seldom seen. A later type (KM 143) had a slightly refined design.
Recorded mintage: 97,000--no overdate reported.
Specification: 3.05 g, 0.900 fine gold, 17 mm diameter, this specimen 3.06 g.
Catalog reference: KM 132, Fr-47.
