SB1020-71085r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71085 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. 30 Dollars (Silver Kilo), 1997. Perth Mint. GEM PROOF. This massive silver issue, featuring a full kilogram of silver, presents a delightful reverse proof feel, with tremendous brilliance to the devices and an alluring frosted nature to portions of the fields. RARE and highly attractive." This type was struck 1997-98. It is reported in the SCWC as 1,100 g, which contradicts what is marked on the coin itself.

Recorded mintage: 1,400.

Specification: 1000 g, 0.999 fine silver, 32.15 troy oz AGW, 100 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-495.
