Sincona sale 68, lot 5398

This specimen was lot 5398 in Sincona sale 68 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$237 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Solothurn | Stadt und Kanton, Vierer 1790, Solothurn. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. FDC. (city and canton of Solothurn, vierer of 1790, Solothurn mint. Very rare in this condition. Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1761, 1789-90, 1793-98 and is common up thru Extremely Fine. Four kreuzer made a batzen and forty batzen made a thaler.
