Middlesex 1801 farthing token D&H-1069

Steve Album sale 55, lot 2909

This specimen was lot 2909 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN: AE farthing token, 1801, Conder token, Middlesex, Pidcock's, beaver // lion, lovely brown patina, PCGS graded MS64 BN." This token was issued a little after the fad for Conder tokens, which ended about 1796. The beaver is native to Europe and England but had been essentially exterminated by the eighteenth century by trappers looking for fur. Beaver fur still used today for top quality felt hats.
