The reverses of Philippine coins were redesigned to feature a new coat of arms upon the inauguration of the Commonwealth in 1936. This type was struck at the Manila mint in 1937-38 and 1941 but issues obviously ceased with the Japanese invasion. More were struck 1944-45 at the Denver mint in preparation for the liberation of the islands by American forces. Today, this handsome coin is available in all grades including uncirculated.
