Stephen Album sale 52, lot 699

This specimen was lot 699 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Muhammad Ibrahim, 1720, AR rupee, Shahjahanabad (Delhi), AH1132 year one (ahad). Ibrahim claimed the sultanate in rebellion against Muhammad Shah, 3 small testmarks, F-VF, RR." The only issue of this pretender are this rupee and an accompanying mohur, both rare. Muhammad Shah survived the rebellion to reign (but not rule) until 1748. Muhammad Ibrahim (Muhammad Shah's younger brother, also known as Jahangir II) was brought out of prison by the Sayyid brothers and reigned for about four weeks before being clapped back into prison, where he lived until 1746.
