Heritage sale 3041, lot 30077
Saxony H3041-30077r.jpg

This specimen was lot 30077 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "The Only MS67 Graded by Either PCGS or NGC. Saxony. Albert gold 20 Mark 1876-E MS67 PCGS, Dresden mint, An nearly flawless coin - essentially pristine - with sparkling mint bloom that flows undisturbed through the gorgeous fields and sumptuous honey-gold coloration throughout. Quite possibly uniquely preserved for this four-year type, as the combined census reports of PCGS and NGC show that this coin is not only the only MS67 graded, but also that none have even been graded at the MS66 level. A truly singular opportunity for the specialist! From The Kaiser Collection of German Gold Coins." This type was struck 1874-78 tho only 1874 and 1876 are reasonably obtainable.

Recorded mintage: 482,000.

Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM 1236, Jaeger-262, Fr-3841.
