Sincona sale 35, lot 5345

This specimen was lot 5345 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$1,781 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Solothurn, Batzen 1807. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. FDC. Winziger Schrötlingsfehler. (canton of Solothurn, one batzen of 1807. Very rare in this condition, Cabinet piece, Brilliant uncirculated, Minor planchet defect.)"

This one year type is scarce in all grades. Later batzen of 1808-11 and 1826 are much more available. Forty batzen made a thaler.
