This specimen was lot 2480 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Akbar I, 1556-1605, AE 2 tanki, Kabul, IE47, obverse legend akbar shahi do tanki, month of Tir, mint & date on reverse; nice strike, VF, R." The SCWC notes this type for four mints for years IE 46-47. Earlier dates may exist. We don't know what this denomination was worth in terms of the rupee. Kabul is now in Aghanistan. The Ilahi Era (IE) was a solar calendar used during Akbar's reign for the dating of coinage and was abandoned a few years after his death.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specifications: 6.8-7.9 g, copper, this specimen 7.95 g.
Catalog reference: KM-41.2.
